Public buildings in New York City face the toughest exit sign regulations in the country. Like all facilities, exit signs must be installed over doors leading outside, in hallways and stairwells. Application
The NYX series is made for indoor locations in any type of commercial facility in the 5 boroughs. Exit signs are typically ceiling-mounted to any non-flammable surface. Their 'exit' lettering is illuminated at all times during non-emergencies and will stay lit for at least 90 minutes after building power failure.
External Specifications
New York City exit signs have a 20-gauge steel housing that is powder coated white (standard) with a baked enamel sheen. Lettering can be green or red, with a letter height of 8"and a 1" letter stroke. Mounting hardware is included for ceiling installation.
Internal Specifications
This sign is illuminated by an LED (Light Emitting Diode) strip, which provides the same amount of light as older incandescents, except with a significantly lower power consumption of less than five watts!
Electrical Specifications
The NYX models use a universal 120/277 VAC supplied by the building's grid. This keeps the sign running at all times while charging the unit's nickel-cadmium battery. The Ni-Cad battery backup will continue to power the exit sign for a minimum 90 minutes after power failure occurs.

Maintenance Profile
To keep your exit sign in top working order, perform periodic maintenance at monthly and yearly cycles as specified in the included literature. Quick battery testing is achieved via a diagnostic switch on the housing.
