Product Description

High-intensity discharge lamps (HIDs) such as Metal Halide, Mercury Vapor or High Pressure Sodium are becoming increasingly popular due to the brilliant light they produce on a small amount of AC power. Such gas-discharge lamps have a “warm-up” time when their ballasts are activated, and take at least 15 minutes to reach their full brightness after a power failure.

The problem with this warm-up period is there will not be enough available light to meet OSHA's minimum foot candle requirements. To this end, our manufacturers have developed special time-delay emergency lighting fixtures that continue to provide the required amount of illumination following a power outage.

  • Standard 15 minute time delay; custom times may be selected
  • Heavy-duty steel or waterproof polycarbonate cabinets
  • Battery backup test button
  • Sealed lead acid battery provides at least 90 minutes of illumination
  • UL 924 Listed; NEC and NFPA compliant

A universal mounting pattern and key hole slots are stamped on the back to facilitate installation on any electrical conduit box. Some locations where HID lights are typically used in general lighting are:

  • Public swimming pools
  • Outdoor parking lots
  • Gymnasiums
  • Film or television studios

A 20-gauge steel housing is suitable for most commercial interiors. The housing is powder coated with a white baked enamel finish that adds a degree of protection form moisture and will not peel or flake off. You may also request any color finish when ordering.

For outdoor locations, make sure to order a wet location or NEMA 4X rated time-delay emergency light built with corrosion resistant fiberglass and polycarbonate cabinets.

  • Utilizes 120/277v AC electricity to charge the battery
  • Solid state charging circuitry
  • Low voltage disconnect
  • AC lockout with brownout protection

Lamp Specifications

Standard Par 36, 9 watt lamp heads are built from high impact thermoplastic. However you may order your time-delay fixture with other wattages including: 12, 18, 25, 30, 35, 55, and even 70-watts.

These steel emergency light models have magnum terminal connectors which allow large gauge wiring to be installed for remote lamps. These emergency lighting units can accommodate up to 5 lamps (3 ports on top, 2 on the sides) or none, depending on your needs.

Time-delay emergency lights use a 12 volt sealed lead acid battery backup which will provide a minimum emergency duration of at least 90 minutes. SLA cells last between 3-5 years and have a maximum operating temperature of 122° F.

Self-testing - Auto test monitors the lamps, battery and circuitry of the time-delay fixture and informs you of any discrepancies via a multifunction LED display. It conducts periodic emergency light tests for up to 90 minutes, eliminating physical light tests. A yearly cleaning is still required.

Nickel Cadmium Battery - To reduce the shipping weight of your product, consider these lightweight memory-based cells, which also last two years longer than SLA types.

Voltmeter - Visual display of the battery voltage level.

Ammeter - Visual display of the emergency light's electrical usage.
