Product Description

The Self-Testing Emergency Light does just what its name implies: it tests the lamps and batteries automatically so you don't have to. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that emergency lights are tested for 90 seconds once per month and 90 seconds once per year. The Self-Testing Emergency Light eliminates the arduous task of manually checking each emergency light one at a time. With more than 10 emergency lights placed in difficult to reach locations, this can become a rather time consuming task. The Self-Testing Emergency Light does all the work for you.

Bottom-mounted LED lights indicate the automatic test and display results on the side of the fixture. Other emergency lights feature a push button battery test, but the Self-Testing Emergency Light periodically performs the task on its own and reports via LED light. Included literature reveals what each light means so problems can be identified and swiftly corrected.

  • Automatic self-diagnostic test replaces the need for monthly and yearly checks
  • Thermoplastic, steel, and wet location housings are available
  • LED lights notifies user of internal issues
  • Provides illumination for 90 minutes on backup battery
  • UL 924 listed and meets NFPA Life Safety Code

The Self-Testing Emergency Light is best used in environments where there are multiple emergency lights in tough to reach locations. The LED indicator eliminates the need to physically test the unit every month and year.

The Self-Testing Emergency light is available in thermoplastic, steel, and NEMA 4x wet location housing.

  • Thermoplastic housing is durable and blends into indoor environments like schools, apartments, and shopping malls.
  • Steel housing is powder coated in white and is suitable for commercial environments like warehouses and manufacturing facilities, where moderate abuse is expected.
  • NEMA 4x wet location housing is designed to withstand the elements and is perfect for areas constantly barraged with water. A high-grade gray polycarbonate material protects internal components.

A 120v or 277v AC electrical connection is used to power the fixture while simultaneously charging the battery. Custom voltages are available to suit your specific needs. AC lockout, brownout protection, and low voltage disconnect are standard safety features.

Lamp Specification

The Self-Testing Emergency Light comes standard with a thermoplastic housing containing two wedge based 5.4-watt lamp heads that can be adjusted to fit your lighting needs.

A high power 9-watt lamp head comes standard on steel and wet location Self-Testing Emergency Lights.

The Self-Testing Emergency Light ships with two lamp heads but can be customized to fit one or zero heads so the fixture can be used as a power supply for remote lamp fixtures.

A wide range of more powerful lamp heads can be ordered to customize your fixture by calling us at 800-480-0707

A 6-volt, 4.5-amp sealed lead acid emergency battery ships with thermoplastic fixtures and a 6-volt, 7-amp battery ships with steel and wet location housings.

Higher wattage emergency lamp heads require higher capacity backup batteries. Steel and wet location fixtures use high wattage lamp heads and therefore require expanded batteries.

The sealed lead acid backup battery charges in 24 hours and provides 90 minutes of emergency illumination when AC power is lost. The average lifespan of the Self-Testing Emergency Light battery is 3 to 5 years. OSHA requires monthly and yearly tests.

Call us at 800-480-0707 to request optional features.

  • Time-delay: installations that use fluorescent and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps can take 15 minutes to reach full intensity after a momentary loss of power. A time delay option keeps emergency lights on while other lights require time to warm up.
  • Nickel cadmium Battery: these batteries have a 5 to 7 year lifespan, are easy to replace, and are light. Ni-Cad Batteries are only available in steel and wet location housings.
  • Voltmeter: this option is only available on steel and wet location fixtures. A voltmeter visually displays the voltage consumption of the fixture.
  • Ammeter: this option is only available on steel and wet location fixtures. An ammeter visually displays information on current consumption.

The thermoplastic housing is durable, but should not be used in environments containing airborne water and dust.

Steel Self-Testing Emergency Light housing is extra durable and can stand up to moderate abuse.

Wet location fixtures feature a gray fiberglass polycarbonate housing that can be used in industrial applications requiring a weather proof solution.

The Self-Testing Emergency Light in thermoplastic housing comes by default in white, but is also available in black.

The steel housing features an difficult-to-chip and corrosion-free finish that comes in a white powder baked enamel coat.

Wet location fixtures come in a gray finish that blends into many a variety of industrial applications.

The Self-Testing Emergency Light saves money and time while creating a safer environment. All it takes to check one of these fixtures is a quick glance.

The Self-Testing Emergency Lights back mount to nonflammable surfaces with help from included instructions. Free technical support is available 24 hours a day by calling 800-480-0707.
