The Class 1 Division 2 Emergency Light is rated hazardous locations and designed to function in the presence of flammable gases, vapors, and dust particles. This explosion proof emergency light features two top mounted PAR style lamp heads that produce powerful illumination for a minimum of 90 minutes when drawing from the backup battery system. The explosion proof fixture mounts easily to nonflammable surfaces like drywall and includes a backup battery testing system that is accessed through the push of a button.

The most common applications for the Class 1 Division 2 Emergency Light are oil refineries, power plants, chemical processing facilities, and other industrial buildings where volatile materials are found. This fixture uses either 120v or 277v AC power and is UL 844, 924, and 1604 listed. Special voltages are available. Explosion proof emergency lights are hermetically sealed to insure their compliance, reliability, and operation in the most dangerous environments.

This Class 1 Division 2 Emergency Light is housed in fiberglass reinforced polyester that makes this fixture explosion proof and uses a clear polycarbonate shield for unobstructed viewing of the AC indicator light. An optional ammeter and voltmeter are also available. This fixture meets NEMA 3, 4, 4x, and 12 and is Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C, and D, Zone 2, Groups IIA, IIB, IIC, and H2.

Battery Specifications

This Class 1 Div 2 explosion proof emergency light uses a sealed nickel cadmium battery that is maintenance free and estimated to last for 7 to 10 years. It is designed to operate at temperatures between 20°F (-7°C) and 95°F (35°C). This fixture can also use a maintenance free sealed lead calcium battery that is maintenance free and estimated to last for 5 years. It is designed to operate at temperatures between 65°F (19°C) and 85°F (30°C). Both batteries will provide at least 90 minutes of illumination.

  • Self-testing: an optional self-diagnostic testing system alerts the user of functionality problems and eliminates the need for monthly and yearly testing.

  • Time delay: after AC power is restored, the fixture remains illuminated for 15 minutes so HID or gas vapor lighting is able to reach full illumination capability.
  • Remote capability: an additional 6-volt 4.5-amp battery can be added to provide power for up to two 6-volt 5.4-watt remote lamp heads.
