Overview

Designed to withstand harsh elements like rain, sleet, snow and dust, weatherproof emergency lights are built with corrosion-resistant fiberglass housings and are NEMA 4X rated for extreme weather conditions. They have a battery backup system that will sustain lighting for up to 90 minutes during an emergency power outage.

Powerful and fully-directional dual 7.2-watt lamp heads are mounted on top of the unit, though 9-watt and other wattage heads can be interchanged. It has a front access panel for easy maintenance and each unit features a push-botton diagnostic switch for quickly checking the lamps and battery.

Features

  • 6 volt 18 watt capacity
  • NEMA rated 4X housing
  • Brilliant, directional 7.2-watt lamp heads
  • Sealed lead acid battery backup and diagnostic switch
  • 90-minute run time on battery power
  • Compliant throughout North America,UL 924 Listed, meets NFPA Life Safety Code

Application

Weatherproof lighting fixtures are made for outdoor locations that see detrimental weather like heavy rain, blizzards and hurricanes. They are also well-suited for indoor washdown areas or when emergency sprinkler systems pose a threat to emergency lights.

External

The gray fiberglass housing and polycarbonate casing are what give the weatherproof emergency light its NEMA 4X rating as an all-weather device.

Internal

Requires 120/277v AC electricity to operate and charge the battery. Standard models have solid state charging circuits, low-voltage disconnect, AC shut-off and brownout protection. You may also request these models in different voltages

Lamp Specifications

Standard weatherproof emergency lights come with two PAR36 7.2-watt lamp heads, but can be fitted with a number of wattage options.

Other available wattages are: 12, 18, 25, 30, 35, 55 and 70 watts.

Battery

The unit's emergency power source is a 6volt, 7 amp sealed lead-acid battery, though they can be fitted with larger batteries to power higher-wattage lamp heads. Sealed lead-acid batteries typically last 3-5 years.

The unit's battery backup must be able to power the lamp heads for at least 90 minutes, per UL guidelines. Batteries should not be operated at a constant temperature over 122º F and periodic maintenance should be performed at monthly and yearly cycles to ensure this compliance is maintained.

Options

Self-testing - Self-diagnostic testing eliminates periodic testing of the battery backup system and informs you of any discrepancies the moment they happen.

Nickel Cadmium Battery - Ni-Cad, or nickel cadmium batteries have a 5-7 year shelf life, giving it 3 years more than sealed lead acid and brings the unit's shipping weight down.

Time-Delay - Best for buildings that employ fluorescent and HID lamps for their general lighting. It keeps the weatherproof emergency light on for a preset period (usually 15 minutes) after power is restored as fluorescent and HID lighting can take 10-15 minutes to attain their full brightness.

Voltmeter - A visual display of the voltage level remaining in the battery.

Ammeter - A visual readout of the energy consumption level
