Overview

NFPA 101 and Underwriter's Labs require all emergency lights and exit signs to provide 90 minutes of emergency illumination. This 90 minute duration is the benchmark for all emergency units, allowing enough time for building occupants to reach a safe egress point.

Many hotels and apartments, though, require a much longer runtime as tenants may be in asleep in their rooms during an emergency. In such cases, a building caretaker or firefighter might have to search room by room, a process that can take several hours. Long-running emergency lighting will make this process safer and easier.

Features

10 hour emergency lights come standard with the following:

  • 600 + minutes of emergency illumination
  • Robust steel housing
  • Bright Par36 lamps
  • Easy push-button diagnostic for battery testing
  • UL 924 Listed for use throughout the United States

Application

Ten hour emergency lights can be used in the following environments:

  • Large processing and manufacturing facilities
  • Parts of town with a history of rolling blackouts
  • Hotels and apartment complexes
  • Lecture halls

External

10 hour emergency lights have a 20-gauge steel housing that is powder-coated with a baked enamel finish to protect the unit from corrosion. They have a standard white finish, though you can request almost any primary color you wish. Call for availability.

Steel emergency lights offer a degree of protection against outside damage which might harm the internal circuitry. A universal mounting pattern and keyhole slots are stamped on the back and can attach to any conduit point.

Internal

  • Universal 120/277v AC electricity during non-emergencies.
  • Solid state circuitry
  • Low voltage disconnect
  • AC lockout with brownout protection

You may request custom voltages when ordering, or you can change them at will by swapping out the lights, circuit boards and battery.

Lamp Specifications

Standard twin Par36 style, 9-watt lamp heads are constructed form high impact thermoplastic, can be configured in any direction and may be side or top mounted. Make sure to specify your preference when placing an order

10 hour fixtures can be modified to suit any space big or small. Other wattages are available including 12, 18, 25, 30, 35, 55, and even 70-watt lamp heads.

Battery

10 hour emergency steel fixtures use 12-volt, 150-watt sealed lead-acid battery when running emergency power. Max working temperature is 122° F and will last between 3-5 years.

Higher or lower voltage batteries can be exchanged for a shorter or longer running unit or to power an additional remote head.

Options

Self-testing - this feature continuously monitors the battery backup and circuitry and will eliminate the need for monthly periodic testing. A voltmeter test and internal cleaning and inspection will still need to be conducted once a year.

Time-Delay -Great for parking structures, pools or arenas that use HID lighting such as sodium vapor or metal halide lights, which require 15 minutes to reach full intensity even after short blackouts. This feature leaves the unit running during this warm-up time after power is restored.
